Area Rug Cleaning

If you have a rug in your home that you’d like to keep for as long as possible, it’s important to protect and maintain it properly. A fine or handmade rug can be a large investment and hold sentimental value. Our expert rug cleaners will handle your area rugs, regardless of type, with great care, cleaning them individually by hand. We also have relationships with Middle Eastern looms and several area rug weavers, so we can restore your rug if it needs repair.

We clean all types of rugs, including wool, silk, sisal, and more. Springer is proud to be the only Woolsafe Approved Service Provider in the state of Iowa.

Professional Rug Cleaning

Rugs that get a lot of foot traffic should be lightly cleaned several times throughout the year and professionally deep cleaned at least once a year. Rugs that receive little foot traffic should be cleaned every two to three years. Whether your rug appears dirty or not, it still needs to be cleaned regularly to remove any dust and dirt that has built up over time.

Stain & Pet Odor Removal

If you spill something on your rug or your pet has an accident, don’t rub or scrub it, or you’ll spread the stain and push it deeper into the fibers. Instead, blot liquid with a dry rag, starting from the outside and moving inwards towards the center as you work.

Pet stains and odors can be difficult to remove completely, and animals will often return to the same location and have another “accident” if they can still smell their scent. Dogs also “sweat” through their hair follicles and paws, leaving oils and odors behind on your rugs. To get rid of these stains and odors, you may need to have your rug or carpet professionally cleaned.

Moth & Pest Problems

Certain species of moths can digest rug fibers, including silk, wool, and synthetic. If you have one of these types of rugs and don’t clean it regularly, it could be harboring insects. Keep your rug clean to avoid an infestation. Vacuum and clean up food and liquid spills and pet accidents immediately after they happen.

If your rug is hand woven or delicate or you can’t seem to remove a stain or pet odor, it may require professional cleaning. Also be sure to have newly purchased rugs cleaned before bringing them into your home (especially if they’re used) to avoid bed bug and other pest problems.
